THE FOUNDER

EMMA TOPPING

Viv Loves Film’s Emma Topping loves a good hat and has worn many in her time as creator, licensor, agent, producer, distributor and financier with nearly 30 years’ industry experience. Emma’s an Executive Producer of both Sony’s PETER RABBIT feature franchise and of Brian Jacques’ REDWALL bestselling book series.

She’s also an entertainment lawyer, film school lecturer and regular participant on creative industry panels.  Emma’s experience covers all areas of the entertainment industry: film, television, live, experiential, stage, radio and podcast productions, video games, consumer products and publishing.

ASSOCIATE LITERARY AGENT

PETER KELLY

A lifelong lover of storytelling, Peter brings a wealth of experience as a script development consultant with a passion for uncovering distinctive voices and compelling narratives. Before joining Viv Loves Film as an associate literary agent, he worked extensively across film, television, and audio, collaborating with numerous creative teams to refine scripts, adapt novels, and provide in-depth story analysis.Alongside his development work. At Viv Loves Film, he is excited to champion fresh talent and help bring ambitious stories to life.

DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

IZZY KEMP

Izzy is currently a student at MetFilm School in Brighton studying Film Business and Production. Izzy was recently was recently promoted from Social Media Manager following not only her success with us, but also her performance at MetFilm and on our two 2025 films:  as Production Manager on “Jamie and the Vampires” based on the short story by “Redwall” author Brian Jacques and “Cornflower Blue” based on the story by Poe.  Both of these films were produced by Film Business and Production final year students who secured the rights from Viv Loves Film and the Estate and Author respectively.

THE COLLABORATORS

PATRICK FRANKLIN

Soon to graduate from MetFilm Brighton with a BA (Hons) in Film Business & Production, Patrick set up Double Coat Productions (“DCP”) with fellow MetFilm Brighton Production Design student Annie Shay.  DCP recently produced a film adaptation of Brian Jacques’ 1991 story “Jamie and the Vampires”. Patrick is currently working on a number of projects on Viv Loves Film’s development and production slate (a combination of original stories and book adaptations) as well as creating a new merchandise initiative for Viv Loves Film authors through DCP. 

ANNIE SHAY

Annie is a recent Graduate from MetFilm Brighton with a BA (Hons) In Production Design for Screen and Film and Co-Founder & CEO of Double Coat Productions (“DCP”) that recently produced the first ever live adaptation of beloved author Brian Jacques’ “Jamie and the Vampires”. Winning the 2024 Viv Loves Film Pitching Competition as intern, judged by Netflix UK, she now works on a variety of projects both live action and animation, with and independently of Viv Loves Film.

ELLE BROWN

Elle is an award-winning Northern-Irish filmmaker living in Brighton. She has written, produced and directed two short films that have picked up numerous awards at film festivals. She’s currently developing her first feature.  Elle’s favourite title on our books is “The Haunting of Strawberry Water” by Tara Gould: a short but impactful story perfect for thriller and horror fans published by our client Myriad Editions.

CREATIVITY: we do things differently from the creation of our Bookography, book covers and pitch decks showcasing our authors’ works and with Emma as Executive Producer for BRIAN JACQUES’ REDWALL tentpole franchise in development at NETFLIX,  Executive Producer for SONY/COLUMBIA’S PETER RABBIT franchise and as Producer of SOMA GAMES multi-episodic video game THE LOST LEGENDS OF REDWALL.

 

WORLD-BUILDING: we know how to create and build brands and multiverses from artistic and literary works brands in a way that complements, rather than cannibalises, the original classic work.

 

DEAL-MAKING:  under Emma’s leadership, with 26 years’ industry experience negotiating, structuring and closing deals in top tier City private practice Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, as well as in-house for market leaders including The Walt Disney Company, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Really Useful Group and Penguin Random House.

 

CHAMPIONING: whether seeking out and amplifying underrepresented voices or identifying the next generation of talent through Emma’s lecturing at BIMM University, Screen Film School, Brighton (she co-created a BA (Hons) Film Business and Production Degree with them) and our annual summer internship programme, we are passionate about bringing together a collective of talent to properly reflect on screen, stage – and beyond –  all of our stories, globally.
