About us

Our mission at Viv Loves Film is collaborating with authenticity, originality and honesty:

“At Viv Loves Film, a literary, development and production agency specialising in book to screen adaptations and world-building media franchises, we understand the business of content rights at every level. We relish the opportunity to collaborate positively and to contribute to the ongoing evolution of the entertainment industry in these exciting – certainly somewhat turbulent – but still very productive times. We see considerable opportunities in the global need for new content.”

– Emma Topping (Owner & Collaborator)

THE FOUNDER: EMMA TOPPING

Viv Loves Film’s Emma Topping loves a good hat and has worn many in her time as creator, licensor, agent, producer, distributor and financier with over 25 years’ industry experience. She’s also a practising entertainment lawyer, film school lecturer and regular participant on creative industry panels.  Emma’s experience covers all areas of the entertainment industry: film, television, live, experiential, stage, radio and podcast productions, video games, consumer products and publishing – most recently being on the Committee of the Brighton Book Festival.

THE DEVELOPMENT CO-ORDINATOR: ELLE BROWN

Elle is an award-winning Northern-Irish filmmaker living in Brighton. She has a background in business operations and marketing but retrained to work in film and television. She studied Communications and Media at the University of Brighton, Filmmaking at Screen and Film School and Producing at NFTS. She has written, produced and directed two short films that have picked up numerous awards at film festivals. She’s currently developing her first feature.

“I’m absolutely loving working at Viv Loves Film. I’ve learned so much already and I can’t wait to see our projects on the big screen. My favourite book in our catalogue is The Haunting of Strawberry Water – it’s a great quick read for thriller and horror fans.”

VIV LOVES FILM KNOWS...

COLLABORATING: Creating and maintaining strong relationships between authors, producers, directors, writers, financiers and distributors

CREATIVITY: we do things differently from the creation of our Bookography, book covers and pitch decks showcasing our authors’ works and with Emma as Executive Producer for BRIAN JACQUES’ REDWALL tentpole franchise in development at NETFLIX,  Executive Producer for SONY/COLUMBIA’S PETER RABBIT franchise and as Producer of SOMA GAMES multi-episodic video game THE LOST LEGENDS OF REDWALL

WORLD-BUILDING: we know how to create and build brands and multiverses from artistic and literary works brands in a way that complements, rather than conflicts, with the original classic work

DEAL-MAKING: with 25 years’ industry experience negotiating, structuring and closing deals in top tier City private practice Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, as well as in-house for market leaders including The Walt Disney Company, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Really Useful Group and Penguin Random House

CHAMPIONING: Amplifying under represented voices, seeking out and nurturing fresh talent whether first time author, or Emma as lecturer and mentor for students at Screen and Film School Brighton where she co-created Screen and Film School’s new BA (Hons) Film Business and Production Degree, that launched in September.
