Canadian publishing company NEWEST PRESS has signed an exclusive representation deal with UK literary, development and production agency VIV LOVES FILM.
Viv Loves Film will represent all of NeWest’s non-publishing rights including screen and stage.
NeWest’s catalogue covers a highly original range of content delivered by a variety of exciting voices. Included is THERE ARE WOLVES HERE TOO by Niall Howell, a noir coming-of-age horror centred on the dark side of small-town life. Through a multi-genre lens, Howell explores the bewildering time of adolescence, detailing important life lessons in trust and self-belief.
Also included is ROSE ADDAMS by Margie Taylor. A rarely seen but desperately necessary insight into life for women entering their third act, Taylor presents an empathetic look at the problems of exiting middle age while attempting to keep up with a rapidly changing world.
Bruce Cinnamon’s THE MELTING QUEEN brings gender identity to the fore with his highly regarded satire that combines history and magic to weave a splendid future-looking tale, whilst Michael Boughn’s BUSINESS AS USUAL serves an affectionate send up of academia in his captivatingly charming contemporary noir.
Further additions include Darusha Wehm’s eclectic, offbeat THE HOME FOR WAYWARD PARROTS, Darcy Tamayose’s fantastical Writers Trust-nominated collection EZRA’S GHOSTS and a blend of crime thriller and campus comedy in TENURE by Kieran Egan.
Emma Topping, Viv Loves Film Founder and CEO says: “We are absolutely delighted to represent NeWest Press, one of Canada’s first independent publishers. Their multi award nominated and winning list tells stories across all genres with a richness and uniqueness that not only left us spellbound, but that we know will also captivate our screen and stage partners, not just in Canada, USA and UK – but internationally.”
General Manager of NeWest Press, Matt Bowes, has said, “We are so excited to start working with Viv Loves Film on getting vital Western Canadian stories out to a worldwide audience. NeWest Press has been discovering new authors for forty-five years and we are thrilled to start bringing their stories to film and the stage.”
Excellent news, very exciting.
Thank you Tony, we love our clients new – and those that have been with us from the jump! x
